The operation of companies as well as the management of information in public agencies is today combined with the management and evaluation of extensive databases.  In the Division of Information Technology, GICON bundles all services for the preparation of branch-specific as well as general software systems from one source.   

The services comprise support for the entire software lifecycle (concept-application development-testing-documentation-installation-training-program maintenance-support) on the basis of market-tested software platforms such as databank management systems (SYBASE, ORACLE, MS SQL Server), application development systems (Powerbuilder, MS Visual Studio), and information allocation systems (BusinessObjects, MS Sharepoint Server, ESRI GIS, cardo GIS, Webserver und Webdienste).    

The focus of software development rests fundamentally on the practical component, which is predicated on the interdisciplinary cooperation between the software developer and all divisions within GICON.   

Furthermore, the Division of Information Technology is responsible for the preparation of all graphic and geographic documents as well as the appropriation and maintenance of IT and communication technology within the GICON group.
