Deutschlandstipendium
Deutschlandstipendium ("Germany Scholarship")
Germany owes its power of innovation first and foremost to its many highly-trained professionals. In 2011, to support the development of young professionals, GICON made the first financial donation to provide financial assistance to students; this was on the occasion of the opening of the new GICON Biosolar Center at Anhalt University in Köthen. This program, dedicated to the development of young talent relies on the support from private donors, universities and the public sector. The objective is to promote talent development of future professionals for German industry, as global competition will present new challenges in the future.
In 2012 GICON continued to support the ‘Germany Scholarship’ at Anhalt University and also made a donation for the same program as Rostock University.
The "Germany Scholarship" assists exceptionally talented students to fully focus on their studies and thus provides important support for their superior training. The students not only receive a scholarship, but also the possibility to conduct scientific research at the GICON Biosolar Center to further advance this important photobioreactor technology, a key technology of the future.
Rollimaus
Support for children with special needs
For many years, GICON has cultivated a close partnership with the Association for Physically Disabled and Chronically Ill Children and Young Adults ("Rollimaus") in Dresden. In collaboration with the association, GICON was able to equip an art therapy room. Through the therapy, young people with disabilities learn to better deal with aggression and uncertainties and to better control these feelings. In doing so they increase their self-confidence and trust in others.
GICON is supporting the art therapy work long term - a small selection of previously created paintings and ceramics can be viewed as part of a permanent exhibition in the reception area of GICON headquarters at Tiergartenstrasse 50 in Dresden. Our company not only financially supports the children as a sponsor, but also maintains personal relationships with the children and young adults. The focus is on shared experiences and this is a win-win situation for everyone involved.

The Institute for Applied Ecology (IfAÖ GmbH), a company in the GICON Group, supports new projects of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Consumer Protection of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern from its headquarters in Neu Broderstorf, near Rostock. As part of the student competition "Students marvel", groups of students have the opportunity to conduct joint research with members of IfAÖ or to use the premises, instruments, microscopes and other equipment. The research themes focus primarily on environmental protection, especially along the German coast. Students benefit from the practical relevance of the projects and also become acquainted with potential future schools, the universities of Rostock and Greifswald.
