GICON accompanies Russian Delegation on an Informational Tour
Knowledge transfer in the remediation of contaminated sites
A Russian delegation visited Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt from June 28th to July 5th.
The twelve representatives from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian federation, as well as other national authorities informed themselves about contaminated site remediation, remediation technology, and remediated industrial sites.
The visit was kicked-off with a seminar day at the environmental office in Dessau where the Russian delegation was introduced to the legal principles and the policies of remediation of contaminated sites in Germany.
The Zeitz and Bitterfeld-Wolfen industrial sites were also on the visitation program. At the ChemiePark, Dr. Michael Polk, managing director of the PD CPG, welcomed the delegation and reported on the results of the restructuring of the chemical site Bitterfeld-Wolfen.
A professional, interesting lecture in Russian regarding waste management, the remediation of landfills, and remediation procedures was given by Jana Ziemer from the Department of Remediation Management / Site Restoration at GICON GmbH.
The Federal Institute of Inherited Waste in Saxony-Anhalt, represented by the Managing Director, Martin Keil, and the Deputy Director, Evelyn Schaffranka, informed the group about exemplary solutions to groundwater contamination at the ChemiePark Project and the Bitterfeld-Wolfen City Protection Project.
An excursion on the ChemiePark facility grounds, including a visit to the Chlorobenzene remediation site, the groundwater preparation facility, and the community wastewater treatment plant completed the information day at ChemiePark Bitterfeld-Wolfen.
