Chinese delegation visits GICON
GICON has visitors: a delegation from Beijing interested in the capabilities and uses of biogas in Germany
A delegation from the EED (Energy and Environmental Development Research Center) and from the Office of Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Partnership from Beijing visited GICON at the suggestion of the Chinese Chamber of Foreign Trade. The goal of the visit was for the delegation to inform themselves about the capabilities and uses of biogas in Germany.
As the visit commenced, the high-ranking guests from the Middle Kingdom were received by Prof. Großmann and Dr. Hilse at GICON headquarters and invited to a meeting. Topics of conversation during the meeting included the current Chinese legal framework for innovative means of energy production. A topic of special interest was the unique patented GICON biogas process.
In the following days, the Chinese delegation toured both the GICON pilot plant in Cottbus and several biogas plants utilizing various generation processes which were either planned by GICON directly or by GICON’s partners. As a result, the delegation received a comprehensive overview of the possibilities in biogas technology.
“That the Chinese chose to inform themselves directly with us here in Germany shows the considerable interest in our experience in the sustainable use of resources as well as our experience in the production and use of energy derived from raw materials in support of a cleaner environment”, said Prof. Großmann.
The feedback from the visitors from China was very positive. They received valuable information and were thankful for the friendly reception and the valuable input. Foreseeable is a return visit to China to expand upon the discussion and coordinate possible areas of cooperation.
