Department: Water Body Modelling

A complex, process-oriented examination of monitoring results and the prognoses for soil water, groundwater, and surface water with quantity and consistency require suitable and proportional numerical models.  From this it follows that we only employ model classes that correspond to the base data.

Accordingly, our models range from simple, one-dimensional analytical solutions to complex, three-dimensional numerical reactive transport models.  Consequently, the Principle of Proportionality is based on, for example, the comparision between possible cost reductions for remediation tasks and the material expenditures for the improvement of the prediction precision.

In the Division of Exploration and Monitoring, the Department of Modeling is the element which binds the individual departments together.
