First 2012 Germany Scholarships awarded
Award ceremony during open house at Anhalt University in Köthen
Just in time for the start of the summer semester on 14 April, the Anhalt University in Köthen awarded the first Germany scholarships of 2012. So far, 33 scholarships have been committed to by 15 companies, including several from GICON GmbH.
"The award of scholarships represents a huge motivation for students and is of vital importance for the attractiveness of the University," said the President of the Anhalt University, Prof. Dieter Orzessek.
The scholarship recipients have now been decided. Out of 243 applicants, the commissions in the technical fields selected the most outstanding and most dedicated students. At Köthen, the first 16 fellows received their certificates from their sponsors.
Since the Federal Ministry for Education and Research has provided funds for twice as many scholarships this year, the university also needed correspondingly more financial support from donors. Many companies, foundations, alumni and individuals became engaged within the framework of the Germany Scholarship to help enable optimal development of future professionals and managers.
