The GICON algae reactor is "Innovation of the Month"

German Center for Research and Innovation announces the GICON photobioreactor as "Innovation of the Month"

The German Center for Research and Innovation in New York has announced that the GICON photobioreactor has been chosen as the Innovation of the Month for May 2012  (germaninnovation.org/research-and-innovation/german-innovations).  As a result, GICON achievements in this area have been prominently recognized and made available to a wide audience, particularly in the United States.
 
In cooperation with the Hochschule Anhalt in Köthen, Germany, GICON has developed a scale-up capable photobioreactor for outdoor use, which is notably characterized by specific process control.  The use of new materials and know-how from the photovoltaic industry now allow a service life exceeding 10 years.  Based on the use of silicone materials in combination with a novel pulsation principle, formation of bio-coating on the tubes has been minimized, thereby allowing for contamination-free production in a closed system.  Therefore, in addition to high surface productivity and energy efficiency, the system also features maximum flexibility.
