Freiberg Geologic Survey Coordination becomes the newest member of the GICON Group

As of 21 July, 2009, the firm Freiberg Geologic Survey Coordination (German: GLU) is the newest member of the GICON Group.  

GLU provides engineering services in the following business areas:

• Raw material exploration and mineral deposit assessment
• Mine closure investigations and mine remediation (including abandoned mines)
• Planning of regenerative power supply systems, geothermal systems (also in connection with solar energy)
• Hydro-geological investigations, permitting process in accordance with water law
• Soil investigations and abatement
• Geologic oversight and on-site construction supervision
• Environmental geology and contaminated sites
• Regional development concepts and feasibility studies
• Project management, Project controlling

These business areas optimally supplement and strengthen the GICON specialist fields.  At the same time, GICON thereby enhances both its local presence in Freiberg as well as its competencies, especially in the fields of geothermal energy, raw material exploration and mineral deposit assessment, and mine closure investigations / mine remediation, including abandoned mines. 

The CEO, Ms. Thierbach, will take over leadership of the Department of Geothermal Energy.  In this area, GLU possesses a comprehensive know-how and references for the prediction of underground conditions (geologic profile, groundwater situation), the choice of site development techniques (geothermal energy probes, geothermal energy collectors, wells), and the scaling of the geothermal energy plant (quantity, site, depth).  Special computation programs are available for simulation of long-term behavior.         

In the area of raw material exploration, GLU has an especially extensive experience reappraisal of ore and spar deposits according to internationally accepted standards and the current state of geological knowledge.  

GLU is a member of the Geo Competence Center Incorporated Society and the Ore Mountains Area Incorporated Society.
