Social Commitment

The GICON® Group is committed to fulfill its social responsibility. It initiates and supports a large number of funding projects on a long-term and project-related basis. The focus is on own sponsoring projects on site, long-term cooperation in the field of youth development and commitment to the socially disadvantaged. In this context, charitable associations and institutions have been supported for many years.

Deutschlandstipendium

Germany owes its innovative strength above all to the many excellently trained specialists. To support the next generation of skilled workers, GICON ® presented a check for the financial support of students for the first time in 2011 at the opening of the new biosolar center at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Köthen. This commitment continues to this day. In addition, GICON® has extended its support to other scientific institutions. One "Deutschlandstipendium"has been supported at the University of Rostock since 2020 .

The “Deutschlandstipendium” creates particularly gifted students with the necessary freedom for their demanding training and enables them to concentrate fully on their studies. The program is based on a cooperation between private sponsors, universities and the public sector. The aim of the funding is to invest in future specialists in Germany, as global competition will pose new challenges in the future.

Part of the sustainable technology future

The students not only receive a scholarship, but also the opportunity to work scientifically at GICON and are closely involved in the further development of future technology, such as the GICON® Photobioreactor or GICON® SOF.

Commitment to disabled children

GICON® has had a close partnership with the association for the promotion of physically disabled and chronically ill children and adolescents for more than ten years. V. (Rollimaus eV) in Dresden. In cooperation with the association, the GICON® Group has equipped an art therapy room. Therapy teaches young people with disabilities how to deal with aggressions and insecurities and how to better control them. They strengthen their self-confidence and also trust in others.

GICON® also supports art therapy work in the long term. A small selection of the pictures and ceramics created so far can be viewed in a permanent exhibition in the GICON® reception area at Villa Tiergartenstrasse 50 in Dresden.

The group not only supports the children financially as a sponsor, but also maintains personal relationships with the children and young people. Common experiences are in the foreground and both sides win.

„Schüler StAUNen“ in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania

The IfAÖ Institut für Angewandte Ökosytemforschung GmbH, a company of the GICON® Group, supports the project of the State Office for Agriculture and Environment Middle Mecklenburg (StALU MM) “Schüler StAUNen” at the Neu Broderstorf company headquarters near Rostock. As part of this student competition, school groups work on their own research projects in the field of environmental and nature conservation.

The IfAÖ has currently taken care of three pupils since 2019 who deal with the "Neozoa in the Warnow" - these are non-native animal species introduced by humans, which form stable populations in the new area and are therefore part of the native fauna.

Furthermore, within the framework of the "Research Exchange" of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the IfAÖ will organize lectures and discussions about current IfAÖ projects (basic ecological research on offshore wind farms, monitoring of the Nord Stream gas pipeline) in selected schools in the area in order to interest pupils in working as an engineer or scientist in the marine field.
