By bus to the sea and back

GICON again enables Baltic Sea excursion for children of the Rollimaus Association

Most children know the feeling: finally, it’s time for summer vacation and a journey to the sea is on the holiday program. Not, however the children and adolescents of the Rollimaus Association, since each trip is connected with costs and wheelchair-accessible accommodation must be found. The GICON Group has come up with an idea to fulfil the wishes of the physically handicapped and chronically ill children and adolescents of the association. Company founder Prof. Jochen Grossmann had a wheelchair-accessible bus organized by a Dresden car dealership, completely financed by GICON. Now nothing stood in the way of a holiday week at the Baltic Sea.

Jochen Grossmann: "We have been supporting Rollimaus for several years. The above-and-beyond commitment of the caregivers impresses me every time anew. It is a matter of honor for me to step in when it comes to providing the children and their caregivers with a great experience."

The commitment has paid off: the children were able to enjoy a week of the summer outside the big city and got to know a new environment. With shining eyes and many beautiful memories in their luggage, they returned to master their daily lives with new strength.

GICON has been supporting the Dresden-based Rollimaus Association for more than ten years. Over the past few years, numerous donations in kind and money have been collected to build a swing for wheelchair users, among other things. But much more important are the joint activities that the GICON employees undertake with the children throughout the year. With children, some of whom are severely or multiple handicapped, who depend all day on care and attention and for whom the time spent together is very important. Through visits to the zoo, bowling and soccer tournaments as well as a summer party, the children can escape their everyday lives for a few hours.
