On October 10th, 2019 is was time again for the annual football game of GICON and the children at Rollimaus. 15 GICON employees joined that tournament which has been taking place every fall for the past 10 years. It is a great highlight for the children who really look forward to it weeks in advance. On arrival, the GICON team was greeted enthusiastically. After a short warming-phase and assembling of the respective teams, the game started. A total of four mixed teams of GICON employees and Rollimaus children competed competed each other, having fun to let the ball roll for two hours. Maximum commitment, enjoying the games and lots of goals made for an entertaining afternoon and a welcome distraction from everyday life. Following the award ceremony with medals, certificates and brand new soccer balls, GICON had a surprise in store.

Donation to the art therapy of Rollimaus e.V.

On the occasion of the company's 25th anniversary, GICON founder Prof. Großmann was deeply committed to supporting Rollimaus e.V. with a donation of 500 €. The general agency in Dresden of Allianz insurance company, headed by André Käßler added another 250 €, so that in the end 750 € could be donated for the good cause. Prof. Großmann said: "It is important to me not only to support the children from a distance, but also to actively spend time with them. However, without financial support it just doesn't work either. Therefore, with our donation we would like to contribute to Rollimaus being able to offer dedicated activities and projects for the well-being of the children.”

Stefan Krause, chairman of Rollimaus e.V., already has concrete ideas as to where the donation will be used: "We will invest the entire amount in our art therapy. With 750 € we can finance the classes, a teacher and the necessary materials for half a year". Since 2008, children and young people with special needs have been continuously supported with art therapy in a specially equipped room. The impressions they gain enable unforeseen and unexpected communication, self-perception and joy of life. The resulting works of art are actually exhibited and also decorate some of the walls at GICON's headquarters in Dresden.

Community engagement with Rollimaus e.V.

GICON has been supporting the Dresden association Rollimaus e.V. for eleven years now. Over the past few years, numerous in-kind as well as monetary donations have been collected, including the construction of a swing usable for children in wheelchairs. However, much more important are the many joint activities, such as bowling, playing football and visiting the zoo where GICON employees and the children spend time together throughout the year. This is especially important for those  children dealing with multiple handicaps and who are dependent on all day care and attention.
