At the invitation of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and with the cooperation of the German Association of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses, GICON® was provided the opportunity to present the performance potential of the GICON® Group to the envoy of the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Germany, Mohammed Abdullah Al Dawas.

In a trustful conversation, potential cooperation models, especially in the field of renewable energies, were discussed with each other.

"The Saudi Arabian market is very open to new innovations. The GICON® Group can be a profitable partner here due to our 100 own patents in the field of green technologies as well as decades of know-how in the consulting and engineering sector. We would like to help support Saudi Arabia's activities for a CO2-free world". is how Prof. Grossmann summed up the meeting with the Saudi Arabian representative.

The joint meeting focused on the application potential of microalgae for the Kingdom as well as floating platforms for offshore facilities, the GICON® SOF. The cultivation of microalgae with the GICON® Photobioreactor, which is possible under desert conditions, not only allows the production of biomass for food supplements or further processing for use in industry or for “green” petroleum, but at the same time microalgae concentrate up to thirty times more CO2 than rainforests, for example. A pilot plant of the GICON® Photobioreactor has already been put into operation on the Arabian Peninsula this year.

Another project field discussed was the GICON® SOF. The use of the floating foundation investigated as part of the EU-funded Space@Sea project not only for wind turbines but for entire living and working platforms could be of great interest for Project NEOM in Saudi Arabia.

The Kingdom's envoy was impressed by GICON®'s range of services and innovations. In follow-up talks, the possibilities of cooperation are to be further discussed. Concrete agreements will be concluded soon. The German Association of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises agreed to actively accompany this process.

"In connection with government contracts abroad, the diplomatic network of the German Association of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses. BVMW proves time and again to be a strength of the association. GICON®'s know-how complements BVMW's experience in initiating foreign business," says Reinhold von Ungern-Sternberg, Head of International Markets at the BVMW.
