An all-round success - bowling with Rollimaus

For more than ten years GICON has been committed to physically handicapped and chronically ill children from Dresden.

The reception is warm every year and the caregivers of the physically handicapped and chronically ill children of the Rollimaus e.V. explain that "the children have not been able to talk about anything except bowling for days". For more than ten years, GICON has been committed financially and, above all, personally to the development and support of children from the Dresden area. "A commitment, which arose from a personal initiative and has become a passionate task of the entire company and hopefully remains so. Monetary donations are important, but joint activities with the children are at least as important," says GICON founder Prof. Jochen Grossmann. On his 50th birthday, he took the initiative and in 2008 supported the creation of the first music therapy room in the children's home.

Bowling and soccer

In spring every year there is a bowling evening with the children. In 2019, almost 20 children and 14 GICON employees took part and competed in mixed teams on four lanes for strikes, spares, splits and of course just for points. Raik jumps for joy in a circle, because he has put the ball back in the middle of the ten pins. Thanks to a special ramp, Jens can also easily keep up while sitting in a wheelchair. In the end, the result are of course important for the kids, but also the experience and the time spent together are also valuable. And if you ask the children, you know that the burger dinner at the end is almost equivalent to bowling and when you say goodbye the room calls: "Until October! Then I'll see you again." Then the joint soccer tournament is on the agenda. Another such event, which everyone will have been looking forward to "for days an end".

Rollimaus - since 1991 a Support Association

The association has been volunteering for children of the "Prof. Dr. Rainer Fetscher" support center since 1991. There, the members try to do justice to their aim, to make the everyday life of the physically and mentally handicapped children easier and to create little highlights with activities. The association is financed exclusively by donations.
